Overview of this book

This book will allow you to take full advantage of Raspberry Pi Zero and Raspberry Pi 3 by building both simple and complex robotic projects. The book takes a mission-critical approach to show you how to build amazing robots and helps you decide which board to use for which type of robot. The book puts a special emphasis on designing mobile (or movable) robots using the Raspberry Pi Zero. The projects will show inexpensive, yet powerful, ways to take full advantage. It will teach you how to program Raspberry Pi, control the movement of your robot, and add features to your robots.

Preface

Accessing the hardware platform

There are many ways to approach the enabling of your quadcopter platform. One way is to build it from scratch. However, in this case, you're going to use a well-known, affordable platform to make this task much simpler. You'll use the Parrot 2.0 quadcopter platform, available from many different online retailers. Here is an image of it:

One of the key advantages of using Parrot 2.0 is that it uses a standard WLAN access point as a control interface; your Raspberry Pi can easily access this to gain control. That's it! You've got your hardware platform.
