Installing Eclipse IDE on Windows 7

Eclipse is an open source IDE for various platforms including Windows 7. You can edit source code, compile source files, build and debug programs in Eclipse. Installing an Eclipse IDE on Windows 7, and configuring it for BeagleBoard will be done in three steps:

  • Installing Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developers

  • Installing GNU ARM Eclipse Plug-in for easy project management

  • Installing Remote System Explorer (RSE) Plug-in for remote file management and remote debugging

Installing Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developers on Windows 7 is straightforward, and there have been many instructions and tutorials on the Internet and YouTube. You can go to the Eclipse Downloads page at http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/, click on Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developers, select one of the packages (for example, Indigo Packages), and then follow the instructions and tutorials to complete the installation. In this book, we suppose the Eclipse is installed at C:\eclipse, and set the Eclipse Workspace...
