I took several networking courses when I was in college, and I still recall setting up my first Novell NetWare network in one of those courses. I was absolutely fascinated to see and learn how computers communicated over the network. Then, in the early nineties, I bought my first modem and starting dialing into bulletin board services that were local to me. This was really exciting because now I could connect to bulletin board services that were located in the city that I lived in. This allowed me to download and upload files from these bulletin board services, and I started downloading everything I could find that talked about how computers communicated. This led to my early career in network security and administration. Then, when my first daughter was born, I decided that I did not want to be on call all the time, so I went back to what got me into computers in the first place, which was programming.
