The first technology of indexing for app indexing is working with NSUserActivity
. This class helps you to index items when users perform activities in your app, such as opening specific screens or interacting with app content. Using this activity class will help a user to find the information that they need in search results and will improve your app's ranking. NSUserActivity
is not intended to index an app's arbitrary data; it only indexes the user's activities. If you want to index app-specific data, you will need to use Core Spotlight APIs and that's what we will do in the next section:
In the following demo, we will build a simple wallet app where a user can track their expenses by entering the item name and price. Once the user enters a new item in the wallet, we will create a user activity so that the system can index it in the private index.
