Storing and organizing audio files on an iPhone

The Music app on your iPhone automatically stores and organizes audio files in an audio library that's divided into several categories, as shown in Figure 8.21:

Let's see how each of these categories organizes our music:

  • Playlists: Playlists organize audio files into favorites, such as music from the 90s, love songs, classical music, or any arbitrary grouping you want to make.
  • Artists: This organizes audio files alphabetically by recording artist, such as the band or individual artist.
  • Albums: Albums organize audio files by album name, so you can find all audio files that come from the same album.
  • Songs: This organizes audio files alphabetically by song title.
  • Music Videos: Videos that contain songs from a recording artist.
