Embedding audio


Sound is an important part of any application and when applied correctly can immerse the user within the interactive experience. In order to provide this experience, it is important that latency is minimized during playback. For example, there should be no delay when playing game sound effects or providing audio feedback from a user interface.

Flash allows sound files to be embedded directly within the library, providing the fastest playback path for your audio. Let us walk through the steps required to do this.

How to do it...

Perform the following steps to embed sound within an FLA's library:

  1. From Flash Professional, create a new AIR for iOS document by selecting File | New (Ctrl + N | Cmd + N). From the New Document panel, select the AIR for iOS document type and click on the OK button.

    Note

    If you are a Flash Professional CS5 user, then it is known as an iPhone OS document rather than an AIR for iOS document.

  2. Select File | Import | Import to Library from Flash's drop-down...
