The need for location data


Let's start with an example. You may have used the app Uber, which is a GPS-based taxi booking service. It relies on your real-time GPS data. Another great example is Waze, which is a GPS-based social map application. Location data (or GPS data) helps us build complex applications such as map-based navigation applications.

This screenshot shows the Uber app, which uses GPS data to determine our current location. This makes the task easier for the Uber driver to locate you. Let's discuss the process in detail in the coming sections.
