Using non-Microsoft clients with Exchange Server 2013

The chances are that your company is using a multitude of devices, usually not all from the same manufacturer. Even though Microsoft would like the whole world to use their tablets and software, alternative devices like the iPad or mail clients like Outlook for Mac or Entourage have become popular to the point that you cannot ignore them.

Luckily almost all modern mail applications or devices support one or more of the protocols we discussed in this chapter. Unless you are planning to use POP, IMAP, or ActiveSync, not all mail clients are supported with Exchange Server 2013.

  • Currently, only the following versions are supported:

  • Outlook 2007 SP3 (w/ July 2012 Cumulative Update)

  • Outlook 2010 SP1 (w/ April 2012 Cumulative Update)

  • Outlook 2013

  • Entourage 2008 for Mac (Web Services Edition)

  • Outlook for Mac 2011

Mail clients that require DAV are not supported.
