Preparing the QlikView environment


Before we start installing QlikView Server, there are a number of things that we need to prepare.

Service Account

All of the QlikView services require a user account to run the service, as opposed to using the local system account. This will be a normal domain user, who will be granted membership to the Local Administrators group on each of the QlikView servers.

Tip

It is actually possible to use a local account for the service user when running all of the QlikView services on the same server. However, this user would have difficulty in accessing network resources such as file shares and SQL servers. Also, if you decide later to move some services onto a new server, you could have authentication issues. For these reasons, I would always recommend that you to use a domain account.

In the examples in this book, I will use a user called QvService.
