Without a QlikView Publisher license, the Reload Engine must sit on the same server as the QlikView Server, and it can only perform a reload of a QlikView document in the server folders with a restricted set of triggers. When we have a QlikView Publisher license, the Reload Engine transforms to being the QlikView Distribution Service (QDS), and we are no longer tied to the QlikView Server for reloads. The QDS can now be installed on its own server and many more task options become available. In this chapter, we will look at the configuration options for QDS, and look at the methods to create a couple of the more common tasks—reload as well as loop and reduce with manual distribution and automatic distribution, respectively.
