Chapter 8. Auditing and Monitoring

I know it has been quite a journey and now we have reached the last chapter of this book. At this point, you have configured your servers and server infrastructure with best practices and industry-standard recommendations, which we explained in the previous chapters of this book. The current state of the server should be secure at this point. But how do you ensure that the state of the server infrastructure will be secure in the future? From an administrative perspective, the best way to make sure that your infrastructure is in compliance with the security policy is by proactively monitoring and auditing the configuration as well as the state of the servers. These activities can be automated or an administrative-driven process can be used. The goal of this chapter is to provide you with a few options for your server infrastructure auditing and monitoring needs.
