Windows Phone acquisition with Oxygen Forensic


Oxygen Forensic has been already described previously in Chapter 1, SIM Cards Acquisition and Analysis. In this recipe, the process of creating a logical copy of a Windows Phone mobile device data using Oxygen Forensic will be shown.

Getting ready

In order to extract data from a Windows Phone device, you should to connect the device both via USB and via the Bluetooth interface (connecting via the Bluetooth interface is not a mandatory requirement to extract data in general. It's only required for extracting contacts.). It will give an opportunity to fully extract user data from the device. 

How to do it…

  1. In Oxygen Forensic, click the Connect device button located on the toolbar. It will launch Oxygen Forensic Extractor.
  2. Click Device Acquisition. The program will automatically search for the connected device. If the program recognizes the device, then its properties are displayed in the program's window. If the device is not found, then you can try...
