Social engineering is tough and that is why tools are important in many attacks. Even though they do not define the social engineer, they bring him or her closer to the edge of success. Possession of advanced tools to someone green in social engineering might not be so helpful. It helps for one to have acquired all of the other skills and techniques we have discussed in the prior chapters so as to supplement them with tools. This chapter has extensively discussed some of the commonly used tools in social engineering. It has gone through the physical tools that are used in attacks. It has discussed and explained the use of lock picks, recording devices, and GPS trackers or loggers. For each, it has explained their purposes and how they work.
