You will be able to perform installation, establish network connectivity and user and process management, modify file permissions, manage text files using the command line, and implement basic security administration after covering this book. By the end of this book, you will have a solid understanding of working with Linux using the command line.

Summary

In this chapter, we began with learning various methods for creating a text file. This was followed by taking a walk through the different text manipulation utilities that are helpful in performing daily operations. These utilities mainly included tools such as head, tail, wc, sort, less and more. Then, we learned the various techniques of input-output redirection into files and programs. After that, we had a quick tour of text filtering and extraction tools, such as grep, sed, and awk. Finally, we saw how to search files in CentOS 7 using the find and locate commands.

In our next chapter, we will learn about managing users and groups in CentOS 7.
