Chapter 7. Recovery of Lost or Deleted Users and Objects

One very common issue that occurs time and again is the accidental deletion of User or Computer accounts or any other object within Active Directory. The overwhelming majority of these occurrences are caused by human error as in either writing a wrong script or clicking the wrong button too fast.

In this chapter, we will go through the different methods of restoring these deleted objects, and will also look at how to minimize the impact that such a deletion can have on your business.

Problems and Symptoms

Due to erroneous actions, one or more objects within the AD have been deleted. This can include User and Computer Accounts, OUs, printers, and so on.

A really big headache can happen If you have a lot of sub-OUs (OUs that are part of a parent OU) and the parent gets deleted by accident, this can cause a big headache.
