Sometimes you will wish to listen to calls in progress. It is not always easy to "catch" a specific call. FreeSWITCH includes a simple interface that let's you listen in on a call with only a browser and an MP3 player such as iTunes. This feature is called telecast.
Be sure to complete the steps in the Using the built-in web interface recipe in this chapter before attempting to use the telecast
feature. You will also need a browser and speakers or headphones in order to listen in during a phone call.
Start by enabling mod_shout
, which is what handles the audio stream. Windows users skip to step 3. Linux/Unix users start with these steps:
Open
modules.conf
in the FreeSWITCH source and uncomment the line with#formats/mod_shout
by removing the#
at the beginning of the line.Save and exit. Build the module with this command:
make mod_shout-install
Set
mod_shout
to load by default when FreeSWITCH starts. Openconf/autoload_configs...
