Master Data Services Configuration Manager

The Master Data Services Configuration Manager is a Windows-based application that can perform the following functions:

  • Creation of the Master Data Services database

  • Creation of an IIS Website and the Master Data Manager IIS Web Application

  • Configuration of all Master Data Services settings

Although it will start automatically when installing MDS for the first time, it can be re-opened by navigating the Windows Start menu to SQL Server 2008 R2\Master Data Services and clicking on the Configuration Manager program.

Configuring Master Data Services for the first time

Once the Configuration Manager is started, a server configuration summary screen is displayed, which checks the Windows PowerShell and IIS versions, as shown in the following screenshot:

The Configuration Manger has a menu on the left-hand side, as shown in the previous screenshot, with just two options, namely Databases and Web Configuration.
