One of the main benefits of DirectAccess over most VPN technologies is the fact that it allows you to manage your remote clients (this is often referred to as Manage Out). With other VPN connections, you can only remote-manage a client if the user has established the connection because he has some work to do. Often times, this means that some users may go on for days without connecting, thus keeping you away. In times of peace, this may not be so terrible, but if there's a sudden outbreak of a virus or some other security related issue, you may not be able to protect such clients.
