Creating tasks

The main use of QlikView Publisher is to reload the documents, and then distribute them somewhere, all on a scheduled basis.

As described earlier, the reload task will use the QlikView Batch (QVB) executable file (QVB.exe) to execute the script and refresh the data in the file.

We also have the option to run a loop and reduce task across a field in the document, and create multiple versions of the document that only have the data associated with each field value. For example, we might select the Sales Region field, and the loop and reduce process will create one QlikView file for each region, each file only containing the data for that region.

Distribution is the process of moving the document to its final location. This could be a folder, an e-mail recipient, or mostly to a QlikView Server.

We will now look at creating reload and distribution tasks. We will examine a couple of different tasks as well as the commonly-used options.
