Now, let's start with backing up your Cacti files. If you have followed this book closely, you should already have a backup script set up. Let's change it so that it also takes care of the additional files we're added with WMI and other templates or PHP modules.
The original backup script only takes care of your plain Cacti files and some PHP configuration, but omits additional config files such as WMI settings or database configuration files. Now, let's review our backup script and add the missing files to the backup as well as make it a bit more version-independent by using a variable for the Cacti version.
Using the original backup script, let's add the missing files and make the backup script more version-independent by using a defined variable:
- Log on to your Cacti system.
- Change to the backup Cacti directory:
cd /backup
- Edit the
backupCacti.sh
file and add the following line to the top of the script:
CACTIVER...
