Antenna and power requirements

So far, we've discussed various wireless technologies and we've realized that, to communicate, each device requires some sort of antenna and power to emit a radio frequency signal to receiving devices such as cellular phones and laptops. One of the most important things to consider when setting up any sort of wireless network, whether it's a GSM, Wi-Fi, or Z-Wave, is the power levels on the antennas. If the power level is too low, mobile devices further away may not receive a signal and this would be a major issue. If the signal is too weak between the transmitting antenna and the mobile device, the mobile device may experience attenuation. Attenuation is a loss of signal such as an electrical current due to distance; when this happens on a network, the loss of signal will result in data loss during transmission.
