Music on hold

Elastix gives us the freedom to assign a specific music on hold category to an IVR, or conference room, an inbound route. Music on hold may be a set of .mp3 files or Internet streaming.

At the beginning, we have a default category that is applied to all modules and features. This category contains three .mp3 music files, and using the uploading section, we can add or remove the .mp3 or .wav files to this category.

Tip

It is highly recommended to use a unique audio format for all music on hold files.

We can also adjust the volume of the files and enable or disable their random playing. In this section, we will show the recipe for playing audio files stored locally and play Internet radio streams.

How to do it…

  1. Create Category Name for our example. We will call it New.

  2. Add an audio file. We will add an .mp3 file as shown in the next figure. The .mp3 files must have a constant bit rate not higher than 128 bit/s.
