Additional benefits of UC solution


Back to the benefits that Contoso would gain out of the "right" UC solution. The business case for Contoso is a mix of integrating "shorter/faster" ways for communication, collaboration, eliminating fixed locations for employees and staff, and converting different communication channels into a less expensive software-based communication solution for use both inside and outside the company.

The main priorities in the business case for Contoso's new UC platform are shown as follows:

  • Reduce travel costs by web conferencing, presentations, and online meetings.

  • Resolution of S2M connections to the public ISDN, since access by carriers are over SIP trunks. In other words, using SIP/VoIP connections from carriers (telecommunication services provider) instead of ISDN switches and technology.

  • Merging the formerly separated telephony and IT departments (change project).
