JavaServer Faces, the most commonly used view component in web applications is discussed for developing a data table. Facelets, which was integrated into JSF with 2.0 version is discussed in the context of templating. ADF Faces components are used to develop another user interface (UI) application. Web services are discussed with JAX-WS and JAX-RS technologies. Java EE frameworks Ajax and Spring are also discussed.</p>

Creating Facelets


Similar to BasicTemplate.xhtml add the following XHTML pages:

  • header.xhtml for a common header section to the WEB-INF/templates directory. For header.xhtml select the New Facelet Header template.

  • footer.xhtml for a common footer section to the WEB-INF/templates directory. For footer.xhtml select the New Facelet Footer template.

  • An input Facelets composition page (input.xhtml) to the WebContent directory. For input.xhtml select the New Facelet Composition Page template.

  • An output Facelets composition page (output.xhtml) to the WebContent directory. For output.xhtml select the New Facelet Composition Page template.

The XHTML pages based on different types of templates are shown in the Facelets application, as follows:

In the header.xhtml page specify a JPEG for the header with the h:graphicImage tag. The header.xhtml page is listed, as follows:
