Being able to work with files will definitely give you an edge as a developer. There are so many frameworks for working with files available to developers today, that one tends to forget that some of the functionality you want is already rolled up into the .NET Framework itself. Let's look at what exactly we can do with files.

If you ever find that you need to create Excel files in ASP.NET applications, do have a look at the excellent EPPlus .NET library available on CodePlex. At the time of writing, the URL was: https://epplus.codeplex.com/ and is licensed under the GNU Library General Public License (LGPL). Also consider donating to EPPlus. These folks wrote an incredible library that is very easy to use and well documented.
