Let's see how we can import data into a GeoPackage. We will see how we can import a vector file and layers from the map canvas in this section.
Make sure that you've made a connection to the GeoPackage that you want to load data into (see the Connecting to a GeoPackage section).
QGIS can consume a lot of file types in a GeoPackage, beyond those of just SHP, TAB, or KML. Irrespective of the supported file type that you want to import, the process is the same:
- Click on
Database | DBManager
and expand theGeoPackage
section so that you can see thenew_sites
GeoPackage. - Click on the
GeoPackage
so that it is highlighted (in blue). - Click on the
Import Layer/File
icon in the toolbar. - In the
Import Vector Layer
window, click on theBrowse
button at the end of theInput Field
. Navigate to the sample data for this chapter and chooseproposed_sites_points.shp
. - Click on the
Update Option
button and leave all of the settings as they are. Then click on...
