Understanding Service Connection authentication and connection type
In the previous few chapters, we created a Service Connection to interact with external REST APIs and Oracle Cloud APIs. When we create a new Service Connection or modify an existing Service Connection, we need to configure two options, authentication and connection type, to handle the authentication of the external REST APIs.
The following screenshot shows the Authentication and Connection Type options on the Edit Server dialog:
As you can see, both the dropdowns have different values and we need to choose them as per the REST API's authentication mechanism. The authentication mechanism is divided into two categories, namely, identity propagation and fixed credentials. In the next sections, we'll look at both categories in detail.
