Configuring your telephony architecture

In this chapter, we're going to cover core concepts for enabling phone system features. Most of this chapter will be targeted toward configuration from a calling plans-based perspective, but many features are configured the same regardless of the deployment type.

Important

While many of the processes and tasks overlap between architectures, there are some differences in how features are deployed or implemented. This is particularly true when it comes to obtaining and assigning numbers or implementing session border controllers and survivable branch appliances.

Except where specifically noted, the steps and configurations will refer to processes that are applicable across all architectures. Configurations, steps, or guidance specific to Direct Routing or Operator Connect can be found in Appendix A.
