Chapter 2: Model-Based Systems Engineering

In this chapter, the main approach to systems engineering will be introduced and discussed and its key properties described. This approach is known as model-based systems engineering, or MBSE, which is the common abbreviation. The information contained in this chapter concerning MBSE is essential learning for any modern-day systems engineer. A good MBSE approach will provide a set of effective tools and techniques that will enable the realization of successful systems while managing the complexity of today's connected systems, and allowing all relevant aspects of the system to be understood in as simple a manner as possible.
