In later chapters, you’ll be introduced to Arcade, the new lightweight expression language for ArcGIS, and then advance to creating complex labels using Arcade expressions. Finally, you'll use Python scripts to automate and standardize tasks and models in ArcGIS Pro. Step 1 – Splitting out the rights-of-way

In this step, you will use the Split tool to cut the right-of-way area out of the original parent parcel that is being subdivided:

  1. If required, start ArcGIS Pro and open the Creating new features project. If you recently completed Exercise 8A, it should be in your list of recently opened projects.
  1. On the Map tab, click on the Bookmark button and select the New Subdivision 1 bookmark to zoom out so you see the entire new subdivision area.
  2. In the Contents pane, turn off the Street Centerlines layer. You may need to click back on the List by Draw Order button at the top to do this.
  3. In the Contents pane, click on the List by Selection button at the top. Then, set the RW layer as the only selectable layer by ensuring that it is the only one with a checkmark beside it.
