Chapter 5. Mobile Device Management

Mobile Device Management (MDM) refers to the technology that allows the centralized management of mobile devices, including those that run Apple's iOS. Centrally controlling iOS devices is an absolute requirement for many large organizations. Centralized management is also becoming a necessity in smaller environments. There are a lot of products that can be used to manage devices. These range from tools such as the inexpensive Profile Manager built into the Mac OS X Server application to third-party tools such as AirWatch, MaaS360 (by IBM), Mobile Iron JAMF's Casper Suite, and Bushel.
