In this chapter, we discussed the network communication and access rules in our lab environment. You saw two options for building your lab network: based on hardware Cisco devices and based on virtual ones.
You can now configure your devices and get a working network for any of the two provided options, depending on which one you chose for your lab budget.
Whenever you need it, you can go further and add and configure more network components/devices/subnets to extend your lab in much the same way as we have configured our basic lab network.
In the next chapter, we will show you how to design application lab components that will fulfill our main lab task: learning and practicing penetration testing.
