Summary
This chapter has reviewed the importance of keeping your data safe by following the 3-2-1-1-0 rule for backups. We looked at what the 3-2-1-1-0 rule is and what it means when it comes to setting up your backups. We added the Grandfather-Father-Son (GFS) rule for backups to show how you can retain your data to meet your Service Level Agreement (SLA), Recovery Point Objective (RPO), and Recovery Time Objective (RTO). You also saw a discussion of the different types of media you can use and various scenarios for backups.
