Understanding backup job enhancements and new features

When installing the latest Veeam Backup & Replication v11a, you will see some new things enhanced and added to backup jobs. Backup jobs are one of the main things configured in the Veeam Backup & Replication console and infrastructure. They protect all of your servers, whether virtual or physical, and, as we will see, there have been some significant changes and enhancements around these types of jobs.

While there are not many, they constitute significant improvements and additions:

  • High-priority jobs
  • Background Grandfather-Father-Son (GFS) retention
  • Orphaned GFS backup retention
  • Deleted VM retention improvements
