Within hours of publishing his research titled Many of Talkspace’s Clients Susceptible to Fraud on his private blog, Jackson Jackson received a letter from Talkspace. Talkspace’s legal council informed him that he would face legal consequences if he didn’t remove the post about their company on his website. Jackson complied with Talkspace’s request but went to the media with his story. TechCrunch picked up the story, where Jackson was described as a security researcher who had discovered that he could use company coupon codes to sign up for and use Talkspace for free by searching for specific terms on Google-indexed websites. He then shared that he could sign up for Talkspace using promo codes that belonged to other companies who had paid for the service.
