Summary

In this chapter, we learned how to efficiently perform a penetration test on a network using OpenVAS built-in connectors and various Metasploit extensions. Additionally, we learned how a proper report of such a test can be generated. We have many other connectors at our disposal, and we can make use of them as we like. We also explored alternative ways of gathering information using the extapi and incognito plugins.

In the next chapter, we will learn how to conduct client-side attacks with Metasploit, and gain access to impenetrable targets using social engineering and payload delivery.
