One of the benefits of virtualization is the ability to respond quickly to changing business needs and provision virtual machines quickly and efficiently. Test labs and product development might lend themselves to manual VM creation and configuration at the start; however, a formal provisioning process is strongly recommended for production VM generation and provisioning.
In order to proceed with this set of steps, we must be logged in to vSphere Web Client with a user account in the administrators group.
Standard template images that have been properly secured according to the vendor specifications can be customized using the vSphere Client Guest Customization wizard shown in the following screenshot:
Navigate to the Home | Rules and Profiles | Customization Specifications Manager view.
Select Create a new specification from the menu bar.
