However, when designing a solution for an organization, some guidelines must be followed to help choose between persistent or nonpersistent vDesktops. The following are some questions with their suggested (not necessarily only) solution type. The suggestions assume that you will answer yes to the questions:
Will users be installing their own native applications or a third-party solution? Persistent.
Does the environment support a large percentage of shift workers? Nonpersistent.
Will application virtualization be used? Nonpersistent.
Will a roaming profile solution be used? Nonpersistent.
Should the solution support a disaster-recovery event? Nonpersistent.
Will users be assigned their own specific desktop for an application or operating system licensing restrictions? Persistent.
