This section is not about how to set up high availability for a Configuration Manager client, but how it operates and how it communicates with the site and some of the features is possesses.

It is important to note that clients do to not require continuous connection with any site server or server role.

Clients use any available instance in a site to perform an action; if a role is not available, the client will try to contact another instance of that role or until an instance is available.

Clients will locally cache its policies and actions (including software inventory, hardware inventory, software metering, and software advertisements) or any scheduled actions. So, if you have scheduled a hardware inventory every day and the management points are unavailable for the clients to report back data to, the data will be cached locally until a management point is available in the site again.
