In this step, we will create the subnets we plan to use for OpenStack services and assign network roles to the corresponding subnets. At a later stage, we will assign the newly created subnets to physical network interfaces, which will be used for these network roles.
Proceed with the following steps:
On the network configuration screen, which appeared in addition to the existing 'default' subnet, click on the New Subnet button and create an additional subnet for the tenant's traffic. This subnet will be used for instances' internal communication.
Network name: Tenant network
Network address: 10.20.0.0
Network mask: 255.255.255.0
IPAM: none
Boot mode: DHCP
This configuration uses an existing DHCP service on the subnet to assign IP address to network interfaces attached.
Drag and drop the Tenant network role from the default subnet to the newly created Tenant subnet, as can be seen in the following image:
