In this chapter, we discussed the NSX product family and its benefits when used along with vSphere. NSX is a new and incredibly powerful tool for creating and managing virtual networks. Especially in combination with vSphere, NSX-v offers the most advanced features, including dynamic routing, load balancing, and VPN gateways for flexible and scalable virtual infrastructure setups. On the other hand, NSX-MH offers great integration possibilities for customers interested in cloud setups with open-source tools like OpenStack or CloudStack, and alternative hypervisors such as KVM and XEN. Network virtualization makes heavy use of VXLAN technology which encapsulates tunneled virtual machine traffic between hypervisors and integrated networking components. To implement a secure infrastructure we're able to use distributed virtual firewalls and apply security policies on particular virtual machines. The core component of NSX is an appliance that can be easily deployed using vCenter Server...
