Testing a package


Virtual applications should be thoroughly tested before being deployed to end users; this recipe will show a simple testing methodology for a package.

Getting ready

To complete these steps you will need to have completed all of the steps in the first, second and third recipes of this chapter.

How to do it...

The following list shows you the high-level steps involved in this recipe and the tasks required to complete the recipe (all of the actions in this recipe will take place on a domain-joined Windows 8.1 computer):

  • Confirm that the App-V Publishing server is updated with the latest set of applications.

  • Log in as Maddy Alans on your testing client.

  • Confirm that the application appears as intended in the Start menu.

  • Confirm that the file type associations work as intended.

    Tip

    When testing a virtual application, you should also check whether the application works as intended with any locally installed applications (for example, a classroom resources application might launch a PowerPoint...
