Enabling scripting and publishing in Office 2013


In order to run the Office 2013 package, the machine it is deployed to must have App-V scripting enabled (which is disabled by default as a security measure). To take advantage of the OS integration, the package must be deployed globally (to a machine security group instead of users).

Getting ready

To complete these steps, you will need to complete the first recipe of this chapter and have access to a computer with the App-V client installed.

How to do it...

The following list shows you the high-level steps involved in this recipe and the tasks required to complete the recipe (all of the actions in this recipe will take place on the server DC and a domain-joined Windows 8.1 computer):

  • Enable scripting through Group Policy.

  • Publish the Office 2013 package to domain computers.

The implementation of the preceding tasks is as follows:

  1. On the server DC, open the Group Policy Management Console.

  2. Expand the tree structure to show Group Policy Objects | App...
