Creating SCSM console tasks


This recipe details the steps for creating a SCSM custom console task. Console tasks in SCSM provide you with a method to add quickly accessible common tasks to the SCSM console that can leverage properties of the class that they are scoped to.

Getting ready

You need to ensure you have successfully installed the SCSM product, are a user in the SCSM Administrator role, and have the SCSM console open.

You will also require the SCSM console installed on your device.

How to do it...

The following steps will guide you through the process of creating a console task:

  1. Open the SCSM Console. Navigate to Library | Tasks and click on Create Task:

  2. Click on Next. Provide a task name and description. For this recipe, use the task name Launch ConfigMgr Remote Control and a description of Launches the System Center Configuration Manager Remote Control tool.

  3. Under Target class, click on ... and select Incident as the target class type.

  4. Under Management pack, select a custom management...
