Summary

Amazon CloudWatch has become a powerful tool to monitor AWS resources and custom applications. In this chapter, we have learned that we can publish custom metrics generated from our application and also create an alarm based on AWS-generated metrics or custom metrics and react accordingly. We configured events on various AWS resources and custom CloudWatch Events published and took necessary actions accordingly. We saw how to store, monitor, and access logs on Amazon CloudWatch Logs.

Lastly, to obtain the overall operational health of an application, we created a dashboard which includes all the AWS resources, metrics, and free text.
