Summary

In this chapter, we learned about the S3 and Glacier environments, and the way data can be stored and served without requiring any servers to support the process. We discovered different versions of S3 that can deliver different availability (99.5% or 99.99%) and durability (99.99% or 99.999999999%) for our files. We also looked at different use cases for S3 and learned how to use S3 to serve a static website, implement versioning, implement a life cycle policy that can automatically archive data to Glacier, and delete an S3 bucket. In the next chapter, we will look into understanding content distribution with CloudFront.
