Viewing the LUNs presented to an ESXi host

During the initial phase of adding shared storage to an ESXi host, LUN devices are presented to the servers. It is essential to make sure that the LUNs presented using the storage/fabric management software are visible to the ESXi host. Once available, it can then be used to create datastores as needed.

How to do it...

In this section, we will learn how to view the LUN information on ESXi hosts using the vSphere Web Client user interface.

All the LUNs presented to the ESXi host can be viewed in the following three ways:

  • Using the vSphere Web Client to View the LUNs

  • Using the ESXi Console to view the LUN information.

  • Using the vSphere Client

Note

We will not be discussing the vSphere Client method for any of the tasks in this chapter or the book unless it is necessary.
