Advanced ThinApp topics

There are multiple topics that may be of interest to anyone who desires a more advanced understanding of how to deploy and manage ThinApp applications within their environment.

Refer to the VMware ThinApp User's Guide (http://www.vmware.com/support/pubs/thinapp_pubs.html) for more information about the following topics:

  • Application Sync: This is a web-based service that is used to keep ThinApp applications up to date, regardless of where they are executed from.

  • Application Link: This is used to connect dependant applications together at runtime. One example would be an application that also requires the .Net Framework. Application Link enables ThinApp administrators to capture both pieces of software separately, and link the ThinApp packages together.

  • ThinReg: This is located in the VMware ThinApp install directory and used to customize application file associations.
