Restoring file data to its original location


The most common recovery operation that a DPM administrator performs is the recovery of protected file data. This recipe will provide you with the steps to restore your protected file data to its original location.

Getting ready

Before you start the recovery, you should always verify that the targeted data source is accessible and that the DPM agent is reporting OK in the DPM console.

How to do it…

  1. In the DPM console, go to Recovery and choose the data source you would like to recover.

    Note

    For file, exchange, and SharePoint, you can use the search function that is available in the Restore pane.

    Mark the data source and choose the data and time for the recovery. Right-click on the data source and choose Recover… to start the Recovery wizard.

  2. In the Review Recovery Selection step, review the data source that is chosen for recovery and click on Next > to continue.

  3. In the Select Recovery Type step, choose Recover to the original location and click on Next...
