Creating recovery points manually


This recipe will cover how you can manually create a recovery point from the DPM console. It is an important task to make sure you have a current backup of the protected data before performing any major changes or implementations that could have a negative impact on the data.

Getting ready

Before you create a recovery point manually, you need to verify that the data source that should be provided with an extra recovery point is in a healthy state and is reporting OK in the DPM console. You must also verify that the DPM agent for the server that is hosting the data source also is reporting OK in the DPM console Management part.

How to do it…

  1. In the Protection section of the DPM console, you will be able to see all your protected data sources as members of a protection group. Right-click on the data source and choose Create recovery point… from the menu, as shown here:
